Hey there! I’m Abegail.

My journey as a designer started in high school, where I was introduced to graphic design through my digital media courses. I began with Adobe CS3, and like many Millenials, went to town learning Photoshop through Youtube tutorials. My desire to learn was insatiable. I (unfortunately) disappointed my parents when I decided to pursue graphic design in college at San Jose State University instead of following in their footsteps in becoming a nurse (Talk about stereotypical, right?)

After college, I moved to Las Vegas and worked in the print industry, helping clients such as Adobe, Coca-Cola, Cinemark, and SalesForce get their designs onto marketing materials for trade shows and conventions in town. What got me into UX/Product Design was the strategic processes used in the print industry. I’ve worked for several print companies, and each had its processes to get things done quickly with minimal error. In my last role, I analyzed my user journey as an art coordinator to identify which steps in the process were unclear, frustrating, and inefficient in order to come up with better solutions and hit our KPI’s. I didn’t know at the time, that that’s what I wanted to focus my career on.

Like many others affected by COVID-19, I decided to make a pivot in my career, and in April 2020, started an online UX certification program with Career Foundry.

I currently work for Healthy Minds Innovations, a non-profit in the mental health/well-being space as a UI designer. In addition, I have my own small business doing freelance graphic design.

Aside from work, I love being a part of my community. I lead STEM/Art classes in Henderson and am a local leader for the Interaction Design Foundation Las Vegas chapter. I also love to support small businesses during First Fridays and other local events. My quirky hobbies and interests include the love of all things lavender, playing my kalimba, wood carving, bike riding through historic neighborhoods, and rewatching Avatar the Last Airbender on repeat.

Thanks for visiting my page. Looking forward to connecting with you!
